I just found that we can order obscure parts from usparts.volvocars.com for pickup at our local dealership. This gets you stuff which FCP, IPD, and eEuroparts don't have, without paying high shipping to VPWS or Tasca, and without calling your dealership parts counter and getting possibly incorrect pricing.

Volvo uses SimplePart, the same layout and diagrams that I love at VolvoPartsWebStore. Oddly, they don't filter out turbo vs non-turbo as well as VPWS. These diagrams are much better than the RevolutionParts ones at Tasca.

The real trick is pickup at the local dealership, avoiding the VPWS and Tasca high shipping rates. When you find a part, choose "local pickup" and choose a dealership. You'll be redirected to an online parts site at your local dealership which looks identical to the Volvo site. Edit 11/3/21: Your local dealership may offer a permanent 10% off all parts. Edit 1/18/22: This permanent discount combines with short term sales (usually around holidays like Independence Day and Black Friday / Cyber Monday) for significant savings.

I tested this out on a $7 part. FCP didn't have it, VPWS and Tasca wanted $10 shipping, and the dealership parts desk said it was backordered with no ETA and wanted $14. Ordering it from Volvo gave me a 10% discount with no shipping! I'll let you know if it arrives and how it works out.

Skandix.de has lots of classic parts and even their own recreations (like their license plate lamps). They're in Germany. Their shipping estimates are 125 Euro to the USA and 55 Euro to Canada!! This is where you go for the really hard-to-find stuff.

Another thing I love about Skandix is the post bolt sizes and dimensions. Excellent for ID those left over parts

usparts.volvocars.com is currently offering a sale. "Limited Time Sale: Volvo US October 2021 Promo 1 15% Off Parts and Accessories (excluding Gear and Classic parts)". I'm not sure exactly how to get this deal, but maybe someone else can figure it out.

An update on the obscure, supposedly discontinued part I ordered using this site: My local dealership called me last week to say they'll have the part in mid October. They'll call or email me when it's in so I can pick it up. So it is available, sold at a discount, and no shipping since I'm picking it up locally. Good deal all around.

This is really exciting. Volvo Parts Webstore can get a lot of stuff, but some parts, like the 850 wagon roof trim they'll only do on will call. I had to wait about 6 weeks, but my brand new leather upholstered lid for the console storage compartment arrived last week.
