Radio says "off" 94 Volvo 850

I have a 94 850. I just received a new radio from ebay. I tried my old codce like an idiot 3 times andf it loocked up (off).
I got the new code from the dealer but I can not hget the "off " the radio. I tried theb position (1) thing for (2) hours. I tried removing fuse number 7. Does anyone have any othersuggestions?? All I have is "off" on the radio. Thanks, BRian

May have to go for over 2 hours....or at least slightly. Don't give up...
If you still can't get it to come up "code," then I'd say you might have a defective unit.

Thanks, I will try it tonight overnight. I tried everything so far including that thing that someone said about pressing # 6 and the power button.\Sort of like a re-boot thing. Nothing still comes up off.
This is crazy. One last thing though maybe someone has more input because of this.
I am upgrading to a premium radio with cd from the orig w/cassette. This should not make a differnce, should it?? I have no plug to place in the amp input space. Please advise.

No no no and Dave, you could be a little clearer.
You MUST either leave the key in the ON position for a little over 2 hours when it should go back to code.
If it doesn;t leave it on for three hours or drive it for two hours and NEVER shut it off.
If it still won't go back, you got screwed and received a bad radio
(Why in the world would you enter your old code)??????

The output will have a difference. I hope you haved stock speakers.

Car off, Unplug radio plug radio in, start car (I imagine the radio should be off so no need to press anything let car run for 2-3 hours code should be lit when I press the power button, enter new code, radio plays Thanks. Make sure when you turn the car on for the 2-3 hours period that your radio is "on" and says "off." If it doesn't say anything (power turned off), this procedure would have been a waste.

No, radio on do the "OFF" is displayed.
If all works well, it will change to "CODE" car either running or just turned on but if running you CANNOT touch the key or turn it off, nothing, just drive

If you get the new code, enter it ONCE, wait 10 seconds. If it doesn't work do NOT try it again.
